What is Tenebrae? Why is it part of Holy Week?

One of the special worship services of Holy Week, a Tenebrae service allows us to reflect on Christ’s arrest, crucifixion, death and placement in the tomb. “Tenebrae” is Latin for “darkness,” which plays a key role in the multi-sensory, somber experience.
