Metzingen United Methodist Church in Germany was defunct until a group of young leaders decided to launch a faith movement that is more relevant to a largely secular society. They transformed their vacant church building into a climbing gym and a place where people in the community can connect with one another. The pastor explains, "The intention of our climbing gym is not to get people into the congregation, it is to bring people into contact with God." The fact that membership is taking a strong foothold is an added bonus to their unique approach to outreach.
