Glossary: location of clergy, honorable

The process by which a minister may request to be relieved of the requirements to "travel" or to be a part of an intinerant ministry. Honorable location is granted to ministers in good standing in the Annual Conference. The located minister no longer holds membership in the Annual Conference and becomes a member of a local church. A located minister may exercise ministerial functions only in that local church under the supervision of the pastor. Whether or not to award the status of honorable location is voted on by the ministerial members of the Annual Conference upon recommendation of the Annual Conference Board of Ordained Ministry.
